"BENEATH THE WRINKLE"
- an experiment in
- photography as illustration
The old, battered folder made of faded purple paper was very nearly sent to the dump. It was found in the summer home of a deceased gentleman who had been a magazine editor. The people charged with cleaning out the premises saved the portfolio and sold it to a dealer in prints.
Inside it were six mounted photographs and one duplicate, all the work of the noted American photographer and teacher Clarence H. White.
What do these pictures mean? Why were they taken? What stories do they tell?
